CHAPTER XII – द्वादशोऽध्यायः
पुत्रचिन्ता
“ ll सुस्था विलग्नशशिनोःसुतमेशजीवाः
सुस्थाननाथशुभदृष्टयुते सुतर्क्षे l
लग्नात्मपौ यदि युतौ च मिथः सुद्रुष्टौ
क्षेत्रे परस्पतगतौ यदि
पुत्र सिद्धिः ll “..............१.
1. The Native will
definitely have children if the planetary dispositions are as listed below:-
(a) If
GURU and Lords of 5th House and MOON with reference to the ascendant
are in
Good positions
and also aspected by benefic planets or in an auspicious sign i.e. other
Than 6th
8th or 12th Signs from the Ascendant. Or (b) When the Lord of ascendant and
The Lord of
the 5th Hose are placed together in a Sign or aspected by mutually
benefic
Planets interchange
positions among themselves.
“ ll लग्नामरेज्ञ्चशशिनां सुतभेषु पापैर्युक्तेक्षितेष्वथ
शुभैरयुतेक्षितेषु l
पापोभयेषु सुतभेषु सुतेश्र्वरेषु दुस्थानगेषु न
भवन्ति सुताः कथंचित् ll

2. From the
Ascendant, if the 5th House is occupied by CHANDRA or GURU which are
associated by MALEFICS and or aspected by malefics and not aspected or
associated by benefics and when these houses are in between 12th and
2nd Houses and the Lords of the above houses are in 6th ,
8th or 12th houses the person concerned will not have any
children.
“ ll पापे स्वर्क्षगते सुते तनयभाक् तस्मिन् सपापे पुनः
पुत्राः स्युर्बहुलाः शुभस्वभवने सोग्रे सुते पुत्रहा l
संज्ञां चाल्पसुतर्क्षमित्यलिवृषस्त्रीसिंहभानां विदुः
तद्राशौ सुतभावगेऽल्पसुतवान् कालान्तरे साध्यति ll

3. When the owner of the HOUSE is a
malefic and remains in the 5th House itself which is owned by the
planet, the Native will have children. When any malefics remain in the house
the Native will have Male children in plenty. If benefic planet is the owner of
the 5th House and remains in it or the Planet remains in its
exaltation house the native will lose children. When the 5th House
happens to be in in childless Signs which are SCORPIO, VIRGO and LEO (वृशिक, कन्या अथवा सिंह), the native is destined to have only few children
which will be after prolonged time.
“ ll सूर्ये चाल्पसुतर्क्षगे निधनागे मन्दे कुजे लग्नगे
लग्नाष्टव्ययगैः शनीज्ञ्यरुधिरैश्चाल्पात्मजर्क्षे सुते l
चन्द्रे लाभगते गुरुस्थितसुतस्थाने सपापे भवे –
लग्नेऽनेकखगान्विते तनयभाक्कालान्तरे यत्रतः ll

4. The native will have very few children after lapse of lot of time under the following
circumstances :-
(i) When
the SUN in the 5th House identical with Childless sign and the
Saturn in 8TH house and KUJA
(MARS) along with ASCENDANT.(कुजे लग्नगे);
(ii) When SATURN, JUPITER AND MARS are in LAGANA, 8th
and the 12 the HOUSES respectively and the
5th
House is in a childless sign;
(iii) If
MOON occupies the 11th HOUSE and the 5th House from GURU
is occupied by a MALEFIC and if
there are many planets stationed with the ASCENDANT.
“ ll सूर्ये नाल्ययुते सुतर्क्षसहिते चान्द्रस्य गेहे स्थिते
भौमे
वा भृगुजेऽपि वा सति सुतप्राप्तिं द्वितीयस्त्रीयाम् l
मन्दे वा बहुपुत्रवाञ्चछशीनि वा सौम्येऽपि
वाल्पात्मजो
देवेज्ञ्ये
बहुदारिका शशिगृहे तद्वात्सुताधिष्ठिते ll “…………५
5. If Ravi
is in the 5th House which is CANCER and if no other planet remains
in 5th House, it is possible that the native will have children
through 2nd Wife, provided the 5th House is CANCER. If KUJA or SHUKRA is positioned in the same
way then also this possibility cannot be ruled out. If SANI is positioned in
the same way, lot of children will be born to the Native. If Chandra or Budha
is placed in the same way the Native will be blessed with few children, If JUPITER is in the 5th House
which is CANCER (कटक) the Native will be the father of
lot of female children.

6. The
under-mentioned planetary combinations will lead to the extinction of the family:
(i) If a malefic positions in the 4th
HOUSE, SHUKRA in 7th HOUSE, and 10th be occupied by
CHANDRA;
(ii) If Malefics occupy LAGNA, 5th, 8th
and 12th HOUSE;
(iii) If BUDHA
and SHUKRA remain in the 7th HOUSE, GURU in 5th House, and PAAPA GRAHA(s) in
the 4th House;
(iv) When CHANDRA remains in the 5th
HOUSE and KROORA GRAHAS with Ascendant,8th House and 12th
Houses.
“ ll पापे लग्ने लग्नपे पुत्रसंस्थे दिशेऽवीर्ये
वेश्मनिन्दावुपुत्रः l
ओजर्क्षेशे पुत्रगे सूर्यदृष्टे चान्द्रे
प्त्रक्लेशभाक् स्यादसूनुः ll “..............७.
7. If MALEFICS (क्रूर ग्रह) remain in LAGNA , or the 5th HOUSE is the House of
ASCENDANT or the Lord of 5th House is placed in the 3rd House and CHANDRA is in
ODD SIGN (ओज राशि) or Amsa in the 5th HOUSE aspected by RAVI.
( Herein, I like to
state that some pundits in astrology are
of the view that the 1st , 4th, 7th and 10th are RAASIS (SIGNS) while others
take them as BHAVAS. While MARSHI
PARASARA follows RAASI THEORY BALABHADRA the author of HORA RATHNA SAMGRAHA
follow BHAVA THEORY. However we follow
MAHARSHI PARAASARA’S THEORY ) .

मन्दें सुतर्क्षे यदि वाऽथभौधं मन्द्यर्कपुत्रान्वितवीक्षितं चेत् l
दत्तात्मजःस्यादूदयास्तनाथसंबन्धहीनो
विबलः सुतेशः ll “................८.
8. When the 5th House is owned by
SHANI or BUDHA and associated or aspected by MANDHI or MANDHA the native will
adopt a son ( In other words he will not have a son. ). A weak Lord of the 5th House who
is not connected in whatsoever manner with the Lords of the Ascendant and the 7th
House will also produce the same result.

नीचारिमूढोपगते सुतेशे रिःफारिरन्ध्राधिपसंयुते वा l
सुतस्य नाशः कथितोऽत्रतज्ज्ञैः षुभैरदृष्टे सुतभे

9. If the Lord of the 5th House is in the RASI of its debilitation
or in an enemies’ House or eclipsed
Or with one of the lords of 6th, 8th
or 12th House , the Native will lose his
children.
If 5th House is not aspected by any
benefic planet, then also the Native will suffer loss of children.
“ ll सुतनाथजीवकुजभास्करेषु वै पुरुषांशकेषु च गतेषु
कुत्रचित् l
मुनयो वदन्ति बहुपुत्रतां तदा
सुतनाथवीर्यवशतः सुपुत्रताम् ll “...............१०.
10. If in the Male’s Navamsa , if Lord of 5th HOUSE, GURU. KUJA and
RAVI are posited any where he will be blessed with Male Children. This is said by the sages. However the Nature of the SONS (Whether GOOD
OR BAD) will depend on the strength of the 5th HOUSE.
“ ll पुंराश्यंशेऽधीश्वरे पुंग्रहेन्द्रैर्युक्ते दृष्टे पुंग्रहे पुंप्रसूतिः l
स्त्रीराश्यंशे स्त्रीग्रहैर्युक्तदृष्टे
स्त्रीणां जन्म स्यास्तुतर्क्षे सुतेशे

11. If the 5th HOUSE or its LORD is in MALE SIGN or NAVAAMSA, or
associated with or aspected or associated by male planets ( Note : नराकारा
भानुक्षितिज गुरवश्शुक्रशशिनौ
वधूरूपो षण्धप्रकृतिपुरुषौ
मन्दशशिजौ......”.जातकपारिजातं “MEANING : AS PER JATHAKA PAARIJAATHA RAVI, KUJA AND GURU are MALE PLANETS, CHANDRA
AND SHUKRA are FEMALE PLANETS, BUDHA AND SHANI are EUNUCHS. (This is also given in Dr. B.V Raman’s “A MANNUAL OF HINDU
ASTROLOGY”) the Native will have only MALE CHILDREN if aspected by or associated with Male Planets, if by both Male and Female planets then will have Male
and Female Children, and if associated with or aspected by only Female Planets
will have only Female children.
“ ll बलयुक्तौ स्वगृहांशेष्पर्कसितावपचयर्क्षगो
पुंसाम् l
स्त्रीणां वा कुजचन्द्रौ यदा तदा संभवति
गर्भः ll

Friends: BEFORE I GIVE THE TRANSLATION OF THE ABOVE LINES, I WOULD LIKE TO
SAY IN CERTAIN SANSKRIT BOOKS,
I HAVE SEEN as “सितरुपचय” instead of “ सितरपचय”.
However since I feel it is APACHAYAI have treanslated it as APACHAYA RAASIS
SINCE UPACHAYA RAASIS ARE 3,6, 10 and 11 and APACHAYA RAASIS ARE 1,2,4, 7 , 8.
and 9th RAASIS . I REQEST READERS TO GET CLARIFICATION FROM VEDIC
ASTROLOGICAL PUNDITS as to the authenticity.
12. Females generally concieve when in the case
of MALES, RAVI AND SHUKRA and in the case of FEMALES, KUJA AND CHANDRA are
having adequate strength and pass through their signs or Navamsas identical
with APACHAYA HOUSE.

अस्त्रुनीचारिनवंशकैः सुते सुतेशायुक्तैरपि तैस्तथाविधैः
सुतर्क्षगैर्वा गुरुभादिनांशकात्सुते फलैः पुत्रामितिविचिन्त्यते ll “..............१३.
13. How many off springs will be born is to be
ascertained after consideration of the total planets in the 5th HOUSE or with
the Lord of 5th HOUSE after finding out how many planets are in inimical
NAVAMSAS,or how many are not inimical or debilitated planets. This is also be
ascertained by from the 5th House or its LORD reckoned from the sign occupied
by GURU or the NAVAMSHA occupied by
RAVI.
“ ll जीवेन्दुक्षितिजस्फुटैक्यभवने युग्मे च युग्मांशके
स्त्रीणाम क्षेत्रबलं वदन्ति सुतदं मिश्रे
प्रयासात्फलम् l
भास्वच्छुक्रगुरुस्फुटैक्यभवनेप्योजांशकेऽप्योजभे
पुंसांबीजबलं सुतप्रदमिमं मिश्रेतु मिश्रं भवत्

14. Add the Longitudes passed by
CHANDRA, GURU AND KUJA. If the result
comes in YUGMA RAASI (EVEN SIGN) and EVEN NAVAMSA (युग्मे च युग्मांशके) , the fruitfulness of
fertility in the female for producing child is assured. If the SIGN is EVEN SIGN (युग्म राशि) and the NAVAMSA falls in ODD SIGN (ओजराशि) or
vice-versa.the production of child by the female will be after great effort. (
प्रयासात्फलं)
If sum total of the LONGITUDES of
RAVI., SHUKRA and GURU are showing the odd sign(ओज राशि) and Odd NAVAMSA, it indicates the strength and physical
capacity of the male to produce children.( पुंस भीज बलं ). In case The SIGN AND NAVAMMSA are in
different there will be mixed result.
(Note
:- In case in the Female Nativity the SUMTOTAL shows in odd sign and the male’
s vice-versa, they may not be able to
produce any children. rather there is a very remote chance that the female will
bear children.)

भानुस्फुटं शोधये –
त्रित्वा तत्र तिथिं सिते शुभतिथौ पुत्रोऽसत्याययत्नादपि l
कृष्णे नास्ति सूतस्तिथेर्बलवशाद्ब्रूयाद्वंयोः पक्षयोः
दशै च्छिद्रतिथौ च विष्टिकरणे न स्यात्
स्थिराख्ये सुतः ll “..............१५
15. Subtract from the Longitude after
getting the sum from 5 Times of the SUN from the 5times of Longitude of the BRIGHT HALF OF MOON (शुक्ल पक्षं) - (पञ्जाघ्न स्फुटं).
if we get a good THITHHI (तिथि) which is represented by the resultant in
the SHUKLAPAKSHA then the native will succeed in getting a son.
However, if the result falls in
KRISHNA PAKSHA the effect will be
negative. We must ascertain from a minute examination if the result falls on
SHUKLA PAKSHA or KRISHNA PAKSHA. Please note that that the native will not be
successful in getting issues if he tries during AMAAVASYA and Chidra Thithhis
which are CHATURTHHY, SHASHTI, ASHTAMI,
NAVAMI, DASHAMI AND CHATHURDASHI. ( These
THITHHIS are
also considered generally as
inauspicious thithhis for any Auspicious Work or Karmas ). Regarding
KARANAS in which the male should not attempt to get a Male child are all the
STHIRA KARANAS and VISHTI KARANA.
The
30 THITHHI of a Lunar Month have 2 KARANAS each.They cover 2 halves of the
THITHI MAANA. The first Karana ends at
the middle time of the THITHHI and the Second ends with the ending of the
THITHHI. They are (1) Bava (2) Baalava (3)
Kaulava (4) Thaithila, (5) Gara
(6) Vanija (7) Vishti (Bhadra) (8) Shakuni
(9) Chathushpada (10) Naaga (11) Kintughna. Out of these last FOUR are called STHIRA
KARANAS and the balance 7 KARANAS are called CHARA KARANAS. i.e.IMMOVABLE AND
MOVABLE KARANAS respectively.

although this is not required now but the YOGAS are important and hence I am

“ ll विष्टिः स्थिरं वा करणं यदि स्यात् कृष्णं यजेत्

षष्ठ्यां गुहाराधानमन्त्र कार्ये यजेच्चतुर्थां किल

“ ll रामायणस्य श्रवणं नवम्यां यद्यष्ठमी चेच्छ्रवणव्रतं

चतुर्दशी चेद्यदि रुद्रपूजां स्याद्द्वादशी
चेस्मृतमन्रदानम् ll “...................१७.
तृप्तिं पितृणामिह पञ्चदश्यां कृष्णे
दशम्याः परतोऽतीयत्नात्
पक्षत्रिभागेष्वपि नागराजं स्कन्दं च सेवेत हरिं
क्रमेण ll “.......................१८.
REMEDIAL MEASURES
There are
many remedial measures for every thing in ASTROLOGY although I do not vouch for
them.
MANTHRESWARA
gives herein few remidial measures which I do not
recommend, personally.However any KARMA to appease GOD and DEAD ANCESTORS IS GENERALLY
considered as GOOD.
16 – 18. In Stanzas 16 to 18 Manthreswara gives certain measures
for the above given CHHIDRA THITHIS, VISHTI KARANA AND STHIRAKARANAS. Although,
chanting daily पुरुष सूक्त, श्रीसूक्त,
दुर्घासूक्त are good. Manthreswara says by
chanting PURUSHA SOOKTHA to invoke the blessing of Lord Krishna will ward off
the barrenness of the family, due to VISHTI KARANA and STHIRA KARANA. For the
barrenness due to SHASHTI ,
He says to
pray to LORD SUBRAHMANIA. i.e. reciting Skanda Shashti Kavacha etc. If it is because of CHATHURTHI , as per
MANTHRESWARA , the family should invoke the blessing of NAGA RAJA (Serpent God)
by offering milk tc after due prayers. If
it is ASHTAMI DAY then, Manthreswara says the person should observe SRAVANA
VRATHA by observing FAST. If the barrenness is due to NAVAMI THITHI, as per
Manthreswara , the family should listen RAMAYANA SLOKAS being recited. If the day falls on CHATHURDASHI,
Manthreswara recommends RUDRA POOJA ( SHIVA POOJA ). If the days falls on DWADASHI THITHI, the
person sould by feeding liberally and
propitiate GOD. If the day falls on AMAVASYA OR POURNAMI, as per Manthreswara
the person should perform SRADHA (पितरमुद्धिश्श्य श्राद्ध). If the day falls after DASAMI of
the dark half of the month till should appease LORD NAGARAJA and LORD
SUBRAMANYA.and LORD NARAYANA as per three divisions of the THITHIS
respectively. Friends, although I
have given this, I believe in SWETHASWATHAARA UPANISHAD where it is written GOD
is “ साक्षी चेतो केवलो
निर्गुनस्च”. Since, GOD is NRGUNA BRAHMAM,
there is no point in asking boons from him except praying which is always GOOD.
In this case I differ from the theory of HH. RAMANUJA who says GOD is SAGUNA (सगुण ब्रह्मम्).

पुत्रेशो रिपुनीचगोऽस्तमयगो रिःफाष्टमारि स्थित-
स्तद्वत्पुत्रगृहस्थितोऽपि यदि वा दुःस्थानपस्तद्वशात्
l
पुत्रभावनिदानमेव
कथयेत् तत्खेचराक्रान्तभ-
प्रोक्तैर्देवतभूरुहैरपि मृगैः
सन्तानहेतु वदेत् ll “...........१९.
19. If Lord of the 5th House is in the
inimical sign or in its sign of debilitation or combust or in the 6th,
8th or 12th House , the native will not be able to have a
child. It is said by Manthreswara that
the consequence of childlessness is certain and hence the person should find
the divine source by checking the deity, tree or animal represented by the SIGN
occupied by the PLANET.
“ ll द्रोहाच्छंभुसुपर्णयोर्नहि सुतः शापाप्तितृणां रवे-
रिन्दोर्मतृसुवासिनी
भगवतीकोपान्मनोदोषतः l
स्वग्रामस्थितागुहारिपुज्ञात्युत्थदोषात्कुजे
शापाद्वालकृताद्विलालवधतःश्रीविष्णुकोपादूबुधे ll

पारंपर्यसुरप्रियद्विजगुरुद्रोहात्फलढ्यद्रु म-
च्छेदाद्देववगुरौ तथा सति भृगौ
पुष्पद्रुमच्छेदनात्
साध्वीगोकुलजातदोषपशतो यक्ष्यादि कामेन
सा
मन्देऽश्र्वत्थावधाद्रुषा पितृपतेःप्रेतैः
पिशाचातिभिः ll “.............२१.
“ ll स्वर्भानौ
सुतगे सुतेशसहिते सर्पस्य शापात्तथा
केतौ ब्राह्मणशापतश्र्च गुलिके
प्रेतोथशापं वदेत् l
शुक्रेन्दु
गुलिकान्वितौ यदि बधूगोहत्तिमाहुःसुते
जीवो वाथ शिखी समान्दिरिह चेद्भूदेवहत्याऽसुतः ll

20-22. If Planet SUN (रवि) is causing the obstacle then the cause of
childlessness is due to disrespect shown to LORD SHIVA and EAGLE GOD called
GARUDA which is caused by the curse of our dead ancestors. If the Planet
obstructing is the MOON (चन्द्र) , then it is because of the anger
of the mother or a chaste lady who has her husband alive (सुमङ्गली) or any venerable lady whose feelings are hurt. If the planet is MARS (कुज), it must be because of anger of the Village Deity ,( स्वग्रामस्थितागुहारिपुज्ञात्युत्थदोषात्कुजे), to Lord Subrahmanya, enemies, or relatives (ദായാദികള് , தாயாதிகள்); In case PLANET MERCURY (बुध) is the cause of Childlessness, it is because of troubling youngers,
destroying the eggs of fishes or similar creatures or due to the anger of LORD
VISHNU. If the positioning of Lord of 5th House is in the house of PLANET JUPITER (गुरु), it will be because of some trouble given by you to the hereditary priest
or his family, or because of destruction of any fruit bearing tree which is
full of fruits; If the childlessness is
due to the Lord of the 5th House
remaining in the house of VENUS (शुक्र) then the reason of childlessness
will be due to destroying any flower bearing tree full of flowers, or die to
any harm done to a virtuous lady, or to
a cow or deer or such animal or due to harm done to virtuous people who are
revered by all; and if the trouble is by positioning of the lord of 5th
house in MAKARA OR KUMBHA the Houses of SATURN, the person might have destroyed
a banyan or peepal tree known also as ASVATTHA (अस्वत्था वृक्ष) which is our National Tree or due to the
anger of GOD OF DEATH(यम) or ghosts (departed souls) or spirits or like them. If the cause is due to
the Lord of 5th House occupying the House of RAHU 0r DRAGGON’HEAD or
associated with RAHU , it should be due to the curse of a snake or serpent. If
it is due to the association of the 5th House lord with
KETHU(DRAGGON’S TAIL) , then it should have happened due to the curse of a
Brahmin. In case the association of the
Lord of the 5th House is with MAANDI, then it will be due to the
curse of departed soul. If SUKRA, CHANDRA and MANDI are associated with the
Lord of the 5th House then attribute the cause to the killing of a
dame or a cow. If GURU, KETHU and MANDI
are associated with the 5th House prediction is for childlessness,
the murder of BRAHMIN.
IN THE LAST QUARTER OF 20TH VERSE THERE IS ANOTHER READING AS “बीडाल वधतः”
WHICH IS GIVEN HERE UNDER :
“ ll एवं हि जन्मसमये बहुपूर्वजन्मकर्मार्जितं दुरितमस्य
वदन्ति तज्ज्ञाः l
तत्तद्ग्रहोक्तजपदानशुभक्रियाभिस्तद्दोषशान्तिमिह शंसतु पुत्रसिध्द्यै ll “.............२३
23. In this way explaining the
many sins accrued by natives due to the KARMA (actions) of the natives in
previous birth which led to CHILDLESSNESS and to ward off such sin committed,
in order to get a SON , astrology has prescribed some methods like JAPA, THAPA, CHARITY etc. to appease the planets.
“ ll सेतुस्नानं कीर्तनं सत्कथायाः पूजां शंभोः श्रीपतेः
सद्व्रतानि
दानम् श्राद्धं कर्जनागप्रतिष्ठां
कुर्यदेतैः प्राप्नुयात्सन्तर्ति सः ll “...............२४
24. A holy bath in RAMASETHU,
singing the names of God (BHAJAN) , Hearing the stories about GOD (सत्कथाश्रवणं) ,
venerating Lord SHIVA and LORD VISHNU and hearing good words, performing
charities, performing the rights to the departed souls (श्राद्ध) and by installing the idol of NAGARAJA (SERPANT GOD) are few remedial measures to get rid of
childlessness.
“ ll लग्नास्तपुत्रपतिजीवदशापाहारे प॒त्रेक्षकस्य सुतगस्य
च पुत्र सिद्धिः l
पुत्रेशराषिमथवा
यमकण्टकर्क्षं जीवे गते तनयसिद्धि रथांशभे चा ll “...........२५.
It can be
assumed in all probabilities, that during the DASAS or ANTARDASAS of any of the
following six planets, a son (पुत्र) might be born to the Native. :
(a) During
the Dasa/Antardasa of the lord of the House in which the ASCENDANT stays., During the Dasa/Antar Dasa of the Lord of the 7th House., the
Lord of the 5th House ., During the Dasa or Antar Dasa of the Planet
GURU., When the Planet occupuing th 5th House or aspecting it .,
When the PLANET which occupies the 5th House or JUPITER in its orbit through NAVAMSA RASI
OCCUPIED BY THE LORD OF THE 5th HOUSE or when Jupiter passes through
the 5th HOUSE or the UPAGRAHA i.e in this case YAMAKANTAKA.
Note :- There are
nine Upagrahas linked to the nine Grahas (planets) which are recognized by
Jyotisha rules. These are: 1. Kaala for Sun, 2. Dhooma
for Moon, 3. Parivesham for Kuja, 4. Ardha Prahara for Budha, 5. Yamakantam
for GURU , 6. Vyathipatham for
SHUKRA, 7 Gulika for SHANI ,8. Indradhanush for RAAHU and 8. Upakethu for
KETHU are called UPAGRAHAS.
These nine
upagrahas are categorised in two categories. The first category has Gulika,
Ardha Prahar, Yamkantaka and Kaala. The second category consists of Dhoom,
Vyatipat, Indradhanush and Upaketu.These two categories of upagrahas are not
enemical to each other and they are categorised on the basis of their method of
calculation.The Upagrahas in first category are calculated on basis of the
points based on set time difference from the actual sunrise and sunset. Also,
these points keep on changing with every day of the week. The second category
Upagrahas are also based on set time intervals from actual sunrise and sunset
but their base points always remain constant throughout the week.

पुत्रेशराशिमथवा यमकण्टकर्क्षं जीवे गते

25. The birth of a SON can be expected during
the DASA or BHUKTHI of (1) the lord of LAGNA (2) Lord of the 7th or
5th HOUSE(3) GURU (4) When the PLANET ASPECTONG THE 5th
HOUSE (5) During GURU passes through in transit of the NAVAMSHA RAASI OF the
LORD OF THE 5TH HOUSE or YAMAKANDAKA RASI.
“ ll लग्नाधीशः पुत्रनाथेन योगं स्वोच्चे स्वर्क्षे
चारगत्या समेति l
पुत्रप्राप्तिःस्यात्तदा ल्ग्ननाथः
पुत्रर्षं वायाति धीशाप्तभं वा ll “................२६.
26. The birth of a son is likely when (1) the LAGNA LORD conjunct with the
lord of the 5th HOUSE (2) when the Lord of Lagna passes through his
EXALTATION SIGN (3) occupies his RAASI
while passing through in his transit of
LAGNA, through the 5th HOUSE, or the RAASI occupied by the
Lord of the 5th HOUSE.
“ ll विलग्नकामात्मजनायकानां योगात्समानीय दशां
महाख्याम् l
सूतस्थतद्वीक्षकतप्ततीनां दशापहारेषु
सुतोद्भवः स्यात् ll “..............२७
27. Add Longitudes of LORD of the 7th
House, Lord of the 5th House and Lord on the House in which Lagna
situates. During the Maha Dasa of the
Owner of the NAKSHATRA resulting from the total received by adding Longitudes
or during the Aphara periods of the planet ovvupying the 5th House
or the plane aspecting the 5th House or During period when the Lord
of the 5th House occupies the 5th House, the birth of a
Son can be predicted as a likelihood.
“ ll सुतपतिगुर्वोरथवा तद्युक्तराराश्यंशकाधिपानां वा l
बलसहितस्य दशायामपहारे वा
सुतप्राप्तिः ll “...............२८.
28. The birth of a son to the native is possible
during the period or sub-period (अपहार) of the strongest one from among
the Lord of the 5th House, the Lord of the Raasi in which the 5th
House occupies and the Lord of the Navaamsa occupied by the Planet GURU .
“ ll जीवे तु जीवात्मजनाथनाथभांशकत्रिकोणगे
पुत्रजनिर्भ्रवेत्रुणाम् l
अथान्यशास्त्रेण च जन्मकालतो
निरूपयेत्सन्ततिलक्षणं बुधः ll “……………२९.
29. The birth of a Son can be predicted when GURU
in its orbit passes through the trine representing the SIGN or Navamsa when reckoned from JUPITER, owning
the 5th House.
According
to some other PUNDITS in astrology, this is to be investigated from the
position of the planets at the birth time. Friends , I subscribe to this theory.
“ ll जन्मनक्षत्रनाथस्य प्रत्ययर्क्षर्धिपस्य च l
स्फुटयोगं गते जीवे त्रिकोणे
वासुतोद्भवः ll “.................३०.
30. Add the Longitudes of the asterism and the
5th house from it. The birth of a SON is possible when GURU passes through the
result of this addition or through one of its trines.
“ ll निषेकलग्नाद्दिनापस्तृतीये राशौ यदा चारवशादुपैति l
आधानलग्नादथवा त्रिकोणे रवै यदा जन्म
वदेत्रराणाम् ll “…………..३१
31. When RAVI in its transit passes the 3rd
RAASI representing the Ascendant at the time of impregnation or transits a
trine to the ADHANA Lagna*, a SON is likely to take place. ( This is most confusing Adhaana Lagna means the Lagna at
which the lady conceives/When the Shiras
of the child is seen/When the child drops on the ground) . I do not know
exactly what Manthrswara means by this verse.)
“ ll आधानलग्नात्सुतभेशजन्मभाग्येऽपि वा
पुण्यवशाच्च वाच्यम् l
आधानलग्ने शुभदृष्टियोगे
दीर्घयुरैश्र्वर्ययुतो नरः स्यात् ll “.................३२.
32. If the birth of a SON occurs in the
ascendant which is 5th or 9th to the ADHAANA it is to be taken
as the result of the virtuous deeds performed
during the previous births.
Further if
the ADHAANA LAGNA occupies or is aspected by benefic planets, the child will be
long lived, and will lead a wealthy and prosperous life. ( According to me, these two are impossible to find out.
)
“ ll तत्कालेन्दुद्वादशांशे मेषात्तावति भेऽपि वा l
तस्मात्तावति भे वापि जन्मचन्द्रं
वदेद्वुधः ll “.......................३३.
33. After finding out the exact DWADASHAMSA of
ANGARAKA (Mars) at the time of ADHANA
and the RASHI in which this planet is positioned from MESHA RAASI or the
from the ADHANA RAASHI the number represented by DWADASHAMSA . If CHANDRA is in the sign s
found is in the month of delivery the child may be expected. ( How to get the
exact dwadasamsha ? Since most deliveries take place in hosptals and the
watches of different doctors or nurses differ even by seconds, is it possible?)

34. After considering all the aspects with
reference to CHANDRA and also LAGNA, the positions of all planets at the time
of a query only predictions on adoption of a son, the time of Sacred thread
ceremony , Marriage of a girl, the attainment of puberty, . the conception of a
boy etc. should be given.
