CHAPTER XVI– षोडशोऽध्यायः
ll लग्नादि द्वदशभावानाम् समुदायफलं
ll
“ ll लग्नवांशपतुल्यतनुः स्याद्वीर्ययुत्तग्रहतुल्यतनूर्वा l
चन्द्रममेतनवांशपवर्णः
कादिविलग्नविभक्तगात्रः ll…………..१.
1. The built of the body of the native will
be corresponding to the rising NAVAMSA or of that of the planet having greatest
strength. His color will be like the lord of the NAVAAMSA occupied by the Moon.
His other signs will correspond to the signs of KALA PURUSHA( काल पुरुष ).
“ ll लग्नेशे केन्द्रकोणे स्फुटकरनिकरे स्वोच्चभे वा स्वभे
वा
केन्द्रादन्यत्रसंस्थे नेधनभवनपे
सौम्ययुक्ते विलग्ने I
दीर्घायुष्मान्धनाढ्यो महितगुणयुतो भूमिपालप्रशस्तो
लक्ष्मीवान् सुन्दराङ्गो द्रुढतनुरभयो
धार्मिकः सत्कुटुम्बी ll……………..२.
2. If un-eclipsed Lord of the
Ascendant with-out any other bad effects. Occupies a QUADRANT or TRINE and is
occupied by benefic planets, and the Lord of the 8th House s in a
SIGN other than the quadrant the NATIVE will be long lived, will be having lot
of wealth , will be praise-worthy, will be having good virtues, will be
honoured by the king, very fortunate and will have beautiful limbs , fearless,
highly religious, and will lead a good family life.
“ ll सत्संवन्धयुते कलेबरपतौ सद्ग्रामवासोऽथवा
सत्सङ्गं प्रबलग्रहेण सहिते
विख्यातभूपाश्रयः I
स्वेच्चस्थे नृपतिः स्वयं स्वगृहगे तज्जन्मभूमौ
स्थितिः
सञ्चारश्चरभे स्थितिःस्थिरगृहे
द्वन्द्वं द्विरूपं फलम् ll “………………३.
3. If the Lord of Ascendant is associated
with benefic planets the Native will live in a good village or associate with
good people. If the planet with which
the Lord of the ascendant is strong enough, then the Native will be under the
patronage of a king and if the planet with which the planet of Ascendant is in
exaltation then the Native will be a King. If the planet of Ascendant is in
moveable sign (चर राशि) then the person concerned will be always wandering
from place to place. If the said planet with which the planet of Ascendant is
in FIXED RAASI (स्थिर राशि) then the concerned person will be
in the same place. If the planet of
Ascendant is in a DUAL SIGN
(उभय राशि) then the native will live for some time in his own place and move
sometimes to different places.(द्विरूपं).
“ II विख्यातः किरणोज्वले तनुपतौ सुस्थे सुखी वर्धनौ
दुःस्थे दुःख्यसदृक्षनीचभवने वासो
निकृष्टस्थले l
स्वस्थो जीवति शक्तिमन्युदयभे वृद्धिष्णुरूर्जस्वलो
निःशक्ति निहतो विपद्भिरसकृत्ख्रित्रो
भवेदातुरः II “………….४.
4. The native will become famous if at birth
has brilliant rays.(किरण्ज्वलो).
If the Lord of the Ascendant is
in an auspicious position the Native will be happy and prosperous.(सुस्थे सुखी वर्धनौ). If the Lord of the ASCENDANT situates in a bad
position (दुःस्थे), or in Debilitation, or in a
Malefic Sign the native will lead a miserable life and dwell in an undesirable place.
If the Lord of the Ascendant has good Strength and also in an auspicious Sign
then the Native will lead a happy, valiant, prosperous and will be leading a
powerful and prominent life. If the Planet of Ascendant has no strength , then
the Native will have to overcome constantly many troubles, will be always
unhappy and sickly.
“ II अर्थस्वामिनि मुख्यभावजुषि सत्खर्थे कुटुम्बश्रिया
सर्वोत्कृष्टगुणी धनी च सुमुखी
स्याद्दूरदर्शी नरः I
सम्बन्धे सवुतुर्द्वितीयपतिना लोकोपकारक्षमां
विद्यामर्थमवाप्नुयादथ शनेः
क्षुद्राल्पविद्यारतः ll “……………५.
5. The
Native will possess best qualities, will be wealthy, will possess handsome face
, will be far sighted and will possess a prosperous family provided the LOD of
the 2nd house Situates in ASCENDANT and the 2nd House is
occupies by benefics.
If RAVI is connected to the 2nd House or related to it, the
Native will utilize his wealt for the good of whole humanity.
If the Lord of the 2nd
House is SATURN or related to it, the person will be bereft of learning or his
learning will be very less.(शनेः क्षुद्राल्पविद्यारतः)
“ ll जैवे वैदिकधर्मशास्त्र निपुणो बौधेऽर्थशास्त्रेपटुः
श्रृङ्गारोक्तिपटुर्भृगोर्हिमरुचेःकिञ्चित्कलाविद्भवेत् l
कौजे क्रूरकलापटुश्च पिशुनो राहौ स्थिते लोहलः
केतौ भ्रश्यदलीकवाग्धनगतैः पापैश्च
मूढोऽधनः ll “……………६.
6. If the Lord of the 2nd House is
in association with Jupiter or aspected by Jupiter and connected with the 2nd
House then the Native will be proficient in VEDAS and other such
scriptures. If it associates with
BUDHA, then he will become a clever
politician, or be proficient in economics or any such subjects. If the 2nd HOUSE LORD is connected
with CHANDRA then the Native will be clever in some art. If it is associated with MARS then the Native
will be adept in cruel tasks and be a back biter. (कौजे क्रूरकलापटुश्च पिशिनो). If the second House associates with RAAHU, the native will stammer while
speaking. (लोहल). If the 2nd House is in association with KETHU the Native will
not only stammer but also speak always falsehoods.
If the 2nd House is
occupied by malefics the NATIVE will not only be an idiot but also will not
have wealth.
“ ll बन्धो यदि स्यात्तनुशौर्यनाथयोरन्योन्यराशिस्थितयोर्बलाज्ञ्ययोः
धर्यं च शौर्यं सहजानुकूलतां
प्राप्नोत्ययं साहसकार्यकर्तृताम् II “………….७.
7. If by mutual exchange of places the Lord
of ASCENDANT and the third House and having strength, then the Native will be
performing valorous acts, be patient and strong and will be showing affection
to his brother(s).
“ ll शौर्यपे बलिनि सद्ग्रहयुक्ते कारकेऽपि
शुभभावमुपेते I
भ्रातृवृद्धिरथ विर्यविहीने दुःस्थिते भवति सोदरनाशः
II “…………….८.
8. When the Lord of the 3rd House
is having strength or conjoined with a Benefic and the promoter (कारक) of the 3rd House is also strong and is posited in a Benefic
House , it denotes PROSPERITY OF BROTHERS.. However if the Lord of the 3rd
House is weak and its promoter is posited the 6th, 8th,
or 12th House which are Dusthanas (except the 6th house for
malefic planets since it's also an upachaya house), which results in destruction of brothers.
“ II अयुग्मराशौ यदि कारकेशौ गुर्वर्कभूसूनु
निरीक्षितौ चेत् l
ओजो गृहः स्याददि विक्रमाख्यः
पुंभ्रातरस्त्वंशवशाद्धवेयुः II “…………….९.
9. If the lord of the 3rd
House and the PROMOTER.i.e. MARS (अङ्गारक) are in odd signs (ओजराशि)and has aspect(दृष्टि) of JUPITER (गुरु) , SUN (रवि) and MARS (अङ्गारक) and the 3rd HOUSE also is an ODD SIGN then the
NATIVE will be having number of brothers as seen in the NAVAMSA of both the
promoters and the lord of the 3rd HOUSE.
“ ll दुःस्थाने सुखपे राशिन्यपि सतां योगेक्षणैर्वर्जिते
पापान्तः
स्थितिमत्यसद्ग्रहयुते दृष्टे जनन्या मृतिः
I
एतौ द्वावपि वीर्यगो शुभयुतौ
दृष्टौ शुभैर्बन्धुगैर्मातु
सौख्यकरौ विधोश्च सुखगैः सौम्यर्वदेत्तत्सुखम् ll “…………….१०.
10. If at birth the Lord of the 4th
House and the moon are together in a bad House i.e DUSTHANA ( 6th ,
8th, 12th HOUSES are DUSTHANA HOUSES) without any
association with or aspected by or hemmed between malefics or associated by
malefics or aspected by malefics the result will be that the mother of the
native will die soon after his/her
birth. However if the 4th House
is in good position and strong and associated or aspected by benefics and
benefics situates in the 4th House the mother will lead a very happy
life.
“ ll लग्नेशे सुखगेऽथवा सुखपतौ लग्ने तयोरीक्षणी
योगे वा शशिनस्तथा करोत्यन्त्यां
स्वमातुः क्रियाम् I
अन्योन्यं यदि शत्रुनीचभवने पठाष्ठमे
वा तयो
र्मातुर्नोपकरोति नाशसमये बन्दस्थयोर्वा न चेत् ll

11. The Native will be able to get
the rites of funeral of his mother if (a) if the Lord of the 4th
House is with LAGNA (b) if the Moon is aspected by the Lord of Ascendant or the
Lord of the 4th HOUSE .
The Native will be debarred from performing the funeral rites if the
planetary positions are (a) if the lord of ASCENDANT and the Lord of the 4th
House are posited in DUSTHAANA with reference to each other or be in the sign
of depression or in inimical signs. (b)
if they are not at all connected with each other in any way.
“ ll मातृभावोक्तवद्वाच्यं पितृभातृसुतादिषु l
भावकारकभावेशलग्नलग्नेश्वरैर्वदेत् ll…………..१२.
12. as said about the 4th
House (भाव) and the Moon (कारक), we are to judge about Father,
Brothers and sons with reference to the respective Houses, the KAARAKAS of the
respective BHAVAS and the planets who own the HOUSE(s), the ascendant and its
lord.
“ ll सुस्थौ सुखेशभृगुजौ तनुबन्धु युक्ता –
वान्दोलिकां जनपतेश्वरतां विधत्तः l
स्वर्णद्यनर्ध्यमणि भूषणपट्टशय्या –
कामोपभोगकरणानि च योगजाश्वान् ll “……………..१३.
13. If the Lord of the 4th House and
Shukra are well placed in Ascendant
with-out combustion or in the sign of debilitation will have the honour of
riding a Palanquin and even will become the emperor (जनपतेश्वरताम्).
The native will acquire gold,
very valuable ornaments, items which will give sexual gratification (कामोपाभोगकरणानि )etc.
“ ll दुःस्थो
सुखेशे कुजसूर्ययुक्ते सुखेऽपि वा जन्मगृहं प्रदग्धम् l
जीर्ण तमोमन्दयुतेऽरियुक्ते परैर्ह्रुंतं
गोक्षितिवाहनाद्यम् ll “……..१४.
14. When the 4th House remains in
any sign which is DUSTHANA ( i.e. 6th 8th or12th Sign) or
is conjoined with the SUN and MARS (अङ्गारक) or occupied by SUN, AND MARS the HOUSE IN WHICH THE NATIVE WAS BORN WILL BE
BURNT. IF RAHU AND SATURN are with the LORD of the 4th HOUSE, the
house in which the native is born will be a dilapidated or old. If any inimical planet is in the 4th
HOUSE, then enemies will misappropriate the native’s belonging such as cow
landed property etc.
“ ll सौम्यर्क्षाशे सौम्ययुक्ते पञ्चमे वा तदीश्वरे l
वैशेषिकांशे सद्भावे धिमात्रीष्कपटी
भवेत् II “…………१५.
15. If the 5th HOUSE is in a benefic
sign and its NAVAAMSA also is a benefic, then the Native will be highly
intelligent and open hearted. If the Lord of the 5th House is in an
auspicious house and attained
VAISHESHIKAMSA the result will be the same for the NATIVE. ( Note :- Vaiseshikamsa
tells us the number of times a planets gets it's own sign in major varghas.
Vaiseshikamsa above 3 for benefics and above 2 for malefics is considered good.
The more the better. )
“ II स्थितिः पापानां वा द्विषति
बलयुक्तारिपातिना
युतो
वा दृष्टो वा यदि रिपुगृहे वा तनुपतिः I
अरीशः केन्द्रे वाऽप्यशुभखगसंवीक्षितयुतो
रिपूणां पीडांद्राग्भृशमपरिहार्या वितनुते II “……………१६.
16, If a Native is born with (a) Malefics in the
6thHouse, (b) when the Ascendant is in association with or aspected
by a strong Lord of the 6th House, (c) If the lord of the Ascendant
is
Posited
in the 6th House, (d) if the
Lord of the 6th House is in angle or quadrant and (e) If the lord of
6th House is in conjunction with or aspected by malefics , will
cause the Native lot and constant trouble and there are no easy remedies .
“ ll षष्ठेश्वरादतिबलिन्युदयाधिनाथे
सौम्यग्रहांशसहिते शुभदृष्टियुक्ते
I
सौख्येश्वरेऽपि सबले यदि
केन्द्रकोणे-
ष्पारोग्यभाग्यसहितो दृढगात्रयुक्तः

17. If in a NATIVE’s Horoscope if the LORD OF
ASCENDANT is strongly disposed than the LORD OF THE 6th HOUSE and is
in the ZODIACAL SIGN, he/she will be or the
NAVAMSA of a benefic planet and also aspected by benefics and if the
LORD OF THE 4th HOUSE with sufficient strength occupies a QUADRANT
or a TRINE, he/she will be healthy and hale, will not suffer from major
diseases i.e (दृढगात्रयुक्त) and be fortunate( भग्यसहिते).
“ ll शत्रुनाथे तु दुःस्थाने
नीचमूढारिसंयुते I
तस्माद्वलाज्ञे लग्नेशे शत्रुनाशं रवौ शुभे II…………..१८.
18. Before I proceed further I would like to enlighten the readers that in
another version I have seen instead of “शत्रुनाशं रवौ शुभे” written as “ शत्रुनाशो रिपौ शुभे “ meaning when the 6th
HOUSE is occupied by a benefics then the destruction of the enemies of the
NATIVE……..” However many experts in the field use the first version and hence I
have used it.
If during the NATIVE’S birth the
Lord of the 6th House is in a bad position similar to its depression or in an
inimical sign or compressed by the SUN and if the LORD OF ASCENDANT is stronger
than the Lord of the 6th House with SUN in the 9th HOUSE,
he will destroy his enemies.
“ ll यद्भावेशयुतो वैरिनाथो यद्भावसंश्रितः l
षष्ठस्थितो य्द्भावेशस्ते भावाःशत्रुतां ययु ll “……….१९.
19. (1) When the Lord of the BHAVA is associated
with the Lord of the 6th House, (2) the House is occupied by the
Lord of the 6th House, (3) if the BHAVA is owned by the LORD of the
6th HOUSE will always be inimical to the Native ( शत्रुतां
ययुः ) Note : In certain other books I have seen instead of “ शत्रुतां ययुः “ written as “ शुभतां
ययुः “. However since the 6th
House is a malefic House I have used the verse as “SHATHRUTHAMM YAYUH” instead
of “SHUBHATHAAM YAYUH.”
“ ll सत्संबन्दयुते सप्तर्क्षे तदिशे बलान्विते l
पतिपुत्रवति साध्वी भार्यां सर्वगुणैर्वृता ll “………..२०.
20. If the 7th
House is connected with the Benefics either through association or through
aspect and the Lord of the 7th House is having proper strength (बलान्विते), then the wife
of the native will be highly devoted to him, will have lot of children from him
and endowed with good virtues. ( सर्व गुणैर्वृत )
“ II केन्द्रादन्यत्र रन्द्रेशे लग्नेशाद्दुर्बले सति I
नादिर्न विघ्नो न क्लेशो नृणामायुश्चीरं
भवेत् II……….२१
21. If in the Native’s Horoscope, the Lord in
the 8th House is situated in any house than the Quadrant (केन्द्र स्थानं)
and if the Lord of the 8th
house is weaker than the Lord of the Ascendant ( लग्नेशाद्दुर्बले ) , he will be free from all obstacles (नादिर्न विघ्नो), will not have any anxieties
( न क्लेशो), and will be long lived. ( नृणामायुश्चिरं ).
“ ll धर्मे कुजे वा सूर्ये वा दुस्थे तत्रायके सति l
पापमध्यगते वाऽपि पितुर्मरणमादिशेत ll “…………….२२.
22. If in a native’s birth the Sun or the Mars remain
in the 9th House and the 9th House Lord is 6th,
8th or 12th or hemmed between malefics, his father will
die soon after his birth.
Note :- If
the death of father does not take place immediately, it will take place in the
DASA or BHUKTHI period of SUN or MARS.
“ ll दिवा सूर्ये निशा मन्दे सुस्थे शुभनिरीक्षिते l
धर्मेशे बलसंयुक्ते चिरं जीवति तत्पिता ll “………………२३.
23. If SUN in day time and SATURN during
night, in the case of birth of a native.
is placed in auspicious House and if connected with benefics; and if the Lord of the 9th House
is strong, then the father of the native will live long.
“ ll मन्दारयो : शीतरुचौ च सूर्ये त्रिकोणगे
तज्जननीपीतृभ्याम् l
त्यक्तो
भवेच्छक्रपुरोहितेन दृष्टे तनुजोऽस्ति सुखी चिरायुः ll “………..२४.
24. If The SUN and the MOON are in trines with
SATURN and KUJA (MARS) , the Native will be abandoned by both father and
mother. However, if the SUN and MOON are
aspected by GURU (JUPITER) then the native will be happy and long lived.
“ ll सुस्थौ सुखेशभृगुजौ तनुबन्धु युक्ता –
वान्दोलिकां जनपतेश्वरतां विधत्तः l
स्वर्णद्यनर्ध्यमणि भूषणपट्टशय्या –

24. If The SUN and the MOON are in trines with
SATURN and KUJA (MARS) , the Native will be abandoned by both father and
mother. However, if the SUN and MOON are
aspected by GURU (JUPITER) then the native will be happy and long lived.

25. If Saturn happens to be the Lord of the 9th House ( धर्म भाव ) and if it is a MOVEABLE sign ( चर राशि ) and also not aspected by benefics and the SUN is in a bad position (दुःस्थान) , and the child born under these circumstances will
be brought up by a person other than the father.
“ ll धर्मे तदिशे वा मन्दयुक्ते दृष्टिऽपि वा चरे l
जातो दत्तो भवेत् नृनं व्ययोशे बलशालिनि

26. If 9th House is associated with
or aspected by SATURN and if 9th House happens to be a CHARA RASI
and further if the Lord of VRAYA BHAAVA (12th House ) is strong ,
then the child will be adopted by another person.
“ ll नभसि शुभखगे वा तप्ततौ केन्द्रकोणे
बलिनि निजगृहोच्चे कर्मगे लग्नपे
वा l
महितपृथुयशाःस्याद्धधर्मकर्मप्रवृत्तिः
नृपतिसदृशभाग्यं दीर्घमायुश्च तस्य ll “……………..२७.
27. If the 10th HOUSE is occupied by
a benefic planet and if the Lord of the said house has full strength and is
posited in a QUADRANT or TRINE identical with its own Sign or its exaltation
sign or if the LORD OF THE ASCENDANT with full strength remains in the 10th
HOUSE ( KARMA BHAAVA) , the native will be a renowned person and will perform
virtuous deeds, will possess fortunes
like a KING , will live long.

28. When the 10th House is occupied
by Sun and Mars , the person will be mighty and influential and if the 10th
House the person will be able to accomplish any great work which he undertakes which
involves valour and courage provided the 10th House is occupied by
benefics. However, if RAHU. KETHU and SATURN are in the 10th House
the person will be sinful and wicked.
“ ll लाभेशे यद्भावनाथयुक्ते यद्भावगेऽपी वा l
भावं तदनुरूपस्य वस्तुनो लाभगैरपि ll “………………२८.
29. While making predictions check-up the Sign
owned by the planet which associates with the Planet of the 11th
House, the BHAVA (SIGN) occupied by the planet of the 11th House.
The acquisition or gain of the possession is to be predicted accordingly. This is also applicable for predictions from
the planets occupying the 11th House.
“ ll व्ययस्थितो यद्भावेशो व्ययेशो यत्र तिष्ठति l
तस्य भावस्यनुरूपवस्तुनो

30. Predict loss of articles by the planets
occupying the 12th House and the SIGN occupied by the Lord of 12th

31. SUCCESS can be predicted (a) If the lord of the Ascendant goes in
transit in trines or through a sign of
Navamsa occupied by the Lord of the House (b) when the Lord of the Ascendant
goes through the particular house in
question while in transit, c) If the lord of the sign goes through the sign which is a trine to the
Sign of Navamsa, wherein the Lord of the ascendant or the lord of the Moon resides,
(d) When the Promoter (कारक) while in transit joins with the
Lord of Lagna or the Lord of the house in which the Moon resides.
(e) during the time of transit the Lord of the
ascendant and the Lord of the particular house for which predictions are made
combine together or aspect each other.
“ II यद्भावेशस्थितर्क्षाशत्रिकोणस्थे गुरुर्यदा

गोचरे तस्य भावस्य फलप्राप्तिं विनिर्दिशेत् ll “……………३२.
32. When GURU in his transit is in TRINE to the
sign in question , we can expect good effects of the House.

33. If during the period of
transition if Lord of LAGNA and the Lord of the 6th House come
together, the enemy of the native can be defeated. The astrologer should predict the opposite
result when the Lord of the 6th House is stronger than the Lord of
the ascendant.
“ ll यद्भावपस्य तनुपस्य भवत्यरित्वं –
तत्कालशत्रुवशतोऽरिमृतिस्थितेर्वा l
स्पर्धा
तदा वदतु तेन च गोचरस्य –
तद्वत्सुहृत्वमपि संयुतिमैत्रतश्र्च

34. If there is natural or
temporary enmity between the Lord of ASCENDANT and the HOUSE in Question or if
their position is in 6th and 8thbetween them then there will be jealousy
or enmity between the native and the person signified by that House when the
Lord of Ascendant happens to be in the particular HOUSE during transition
period. However, if the LORD of
Ascendant and the Lord of the House in question are natural or temporary
friends then the friendship between the person signified by the particular
house and the native will increase considerably.
“ ll लग्नेशयद्भावपयोस्तु योगो यदातदा
तत्फलसिद्धिकालः l
भावेशवीर्ये शुभमन्यथान्यलग्नाच्च

35. The result of the HOUSE under
examination is to be said as positively good when the Lord of LAGNA gets into conjunction
with the Lord of the particular House provided the said house is strong and
beneficial. Otherwise the effect will be
vice-versa.
The prediction should be the same way if calculated from the MOON instead
of Ascendant.
